Broomfield Road is a local retail centre, providing retail units in an area with few existing facilities. The site was previously occupied by an old community building, which was in a state of disrepair for some years and ultimately demolished. Working closely with the planning department, we designed the scheme to provide a simple retail centre that allows local facilities to be provided, such as a pharmacy, convenience store and dentist. It also provides opportunities for local businesses to set up. The structure is a portal frame, steel structure, clad in rendered masonry and insulated cladding panels.
